The physics department at NEIU has an oppening for a part time instructors
for fall 2006 and spring 2007. Interested applicants should consult

The NEIU Chapter of the
Society of Physics Students
has elected new officers. Congratulations to President Jose Escobedo,
Vice President Greg Werner, Secretary John Papiewski and Treasurer David Neuburger.
Our faculty search has concluded and Dr. Paulo Acioli will join
our faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor in Fall 2006. Dr. Acioli is a theoretical
condensed matter physicist.
Dr. Robert Stehman retired at the end of the summer 2005 after
over thirty years of service to NEIU. Now that he has more time on his hands, Dr. Stehman plans to get back to his research
in atomic physics as an emeritus professor.
Dr. Sudha Srinivas joined the NEIU faculty in
Fall 2005. Dr. Srinivas works in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics, and she currently
serves as the physics undergraduate advisor.
A proposal by Professors Anderson,
Gidea,
Rutschman,
Sztainberg
& Zeng
to continue their Research Community at NEIU was received funding
for and additional year. The research community
is centered around computational dynamics in physics and
populations. As part of its mission, this research community sponsors
the Mathematical Sciences Seminar.

NEIU Students Omid Ahmadi, Katsushi Kanda, and Marin Senica,
presented their java simulation of an ideal gas at
NEIU's annual Student Research &
Creative Activities Symposium in April, 2005.
