Dear
Professor Anderson:
I am writing
to you in
hopes of
identifying
undergraduate
students who
are interested
in a summer
research
program.
Faculty have
been impressed
with the
quality of
students
at your
institution and hope you will encourage your students to consider applying to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln 2008 Summer Research Program.
Nebraska's
summer program
offers
research
opportunities
in the
science,
technology,
engineering,
and
mathematics
fields. A
complete
listing of
programs and
descriptions
of the
research

available can
be found on
our Web site

* Redox

* Biological chemistry
* Chemistry
* Applied mathematics
* Virology
* Functional nanomaterials and nanoscience
* Plant
sciences and bioinformatics
* Computer science
Undergraduates
receive
first-hand
exposure to
research and
the
experiences of
graduate
school. They
work closely
with faculty
mentors and
research teams
of graduate
students and
other summer
scholars.
Students also
have
opportunities
to participate
in meaningful
social and
professional
development
activities
outside of the
laboratory.
A full
description of
what a student
can expect
during the
eight to ten
week program
and the
program
benefits
including a
stipend
ranging from
$3,000 to
$4,000, room
and board,
travel
expenses, and
more can be
found online
at http://www.unl.edu/summerprogram/benefits.shtml.
This year, we
are making an
extra effort
to attract
applicants who
are ethnic or
racial
minorities.
Applications
are due March
3, 2008 and
are available
at http://www.unl.edu/summerprogram/apply.shtml.
Please feel
free to
forward this
to your
students and
if you have
questions, you
may contact me
directly.
