Subject: Physicist Sought for SPS Program Coordinator Job

Greetings, SPS Leaders,

Know of a super former student looking for a physics job?

We're hiring a Program Coordinator here in the SPS national office. If one of your past physics students, especially someone who was an active participant in your SPS chapter, and/or a member of the physics honor society, Sigma Pi Sigma, would be interested, let them know about this position; it is likely that you know a great candidate for this job!

Here's the link for the SPS Program Coordinator: http://careers.physicstoday.org/jobdetail.cfm?job=2598628

In case the link doesn't work for some reason here's the description from the ad in Physics Today (July 2007):

Description

The American Institute of Physics is seeking a Program Coordinator for The Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma. The successful candidate will manage projects and programs within the division from planning to execution to follow-up including documentation and possible full publication; works with the SPS director to manage the various SPS governance functions; supports current SPS programs; plans special events, meetings and conferences for SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma; participates actively in the volunteer communications efforts; and assists the Director of SPS in soliciting new program support.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and two years relevant work experience with a background in physics or physical science and/or physical science education is preferred. Knowledge of events planning, committee work, and budget and accounting practices is desired. Must have excellent writing skills, be computer literate (have word processing, spreadsheet and database experience, and some web experience), and be able to deal effectively with staff, senior management, and the public.

If you feel you know someone with the qualifications and who would like to apply for this position, please have them notify the Human Resources Division at aiphr at aip.org or have them fax their resume to (301) 209-0847.

The American Institute of Physics is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
